This beautifull stag was photographed on the edge of Rannoch Moor, Scotland

It is a wild stag but has become quite tame through peoiple feeding it and it is possible now to even feed it by hand......it had my apple :)

EDIT JAN 12th 2009:

I am distressed and upset to learn that this beautifull stag hadto be put down on the 3rd January after it had been used as target practice by thugs with an air riffle :( The stag had bulletts lodged into its head and eye and was found bleeding and suffering at the side of the road by a passer by.

I only hope they find and prosecute the bast**ds, but it wont bring this mighty animal back. R.I.P big fella

Beautiful shot, and also a magnificent animal. I think deer are the most representative animals for the Scottish Highlands. Once again, Very Impressive ! :D

Simply a beautiful photo, and such a sad ending to the story. For those of us who are mesmerized by animals, there's no greater joy than to experience one up close and personal. It becomes a magical experience. Sadly, the more they trust us, the more danger they're in. Humans have a lot of evolving to do yet. Thank you for sharing the picture, and the story. It's important to shed light on the damage we inflict - only then can we work to stop it.

Beautiful photo! You've really captured his majestic spirit. :aww: It's a real shame about what happened to him. I hope they catch the people that did that, too. :shakefist:
